Books are magic

Yesterday was Harry Potter's and J.K. Rowling's birthdays. All over social media I was reminded of this fact, and the impact that those books had on a generation, and as a result will continue to have on future generations. Harry Potter is my generation's Chronicles of Narnia. It is a book series that transformed childhood for so many of my peers. I am one of those who came to the party late; by the time I started reading Harry Potter they had already made the first movie. It still amazes me to this day how I hadn't even heard about the books until the first movie was in cinemas. Curiosity finally won out and I bought the first book in the series I could find (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). I was hooked. The world of H.P. drew me in so much that to this day it is like coming home when I open those books.

Good books will do that; they will create a world that stays with you long after you've turned the final page. They seep into your soul and transform you. I simply cannot imagine my life with out Harry Potter, and that is a truly amazing thing. There are thousands of books that I've read over my lifetime so far, some I have enjoyed more than others, and some have become a part of me.

As an author I strive everyday to make my books as engaging and life changing as J.K. Rowling managed to do with Harry Potter. It is an extremely high bar to set, but I feel it is the only way to write. I want to be the best writer I can be, I want to create worlds that people long to return to even before they've closed the book on that final page. To be able to make a mark on someones heart with my writing would be the absolute dream. To have my novels transform people is the goal behind ever word I write.

Let the magic of a book transform you and take you to places you never imagined you would or could go.
